Mike Bennie, The Wine Front ~ "It's hard to fault this release. You could put this in an encyclopaedia filed under Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It's quintessential in herbal whiffs, passionfruit and citrus fruitiness and talc-like mineral sweetness in perfume too. It's pure, racy, driven and then shows some juiciness in the mouth to woo you further. Young, fresh, feeling, zesty, flinty again, with fine chalky fringes then squeaky acidity to close. Drinkability is so high. I'm not mad, or having a weird day, this is just one of the best examples of its ilk."

James Suckling ~ "A wine that is full of excitement, showing an array of grapefruit, lime and lemon citrus as well as gently nettly herbal notes, really fresh. The palate carries juicy white peach and nectarine flavor, very attractive wine, acid holds crunch and balance is nigh on perfect. Drink now."

Beppi Crosariol ~ "Lean and complex in a come-hither-and-I'll-tell-you-secrets way. This is a top-drawer Marlborough sauvignon blanc, with a flinty essence wafting over gooseberry, grapefruit, lemongrass and hay notes. Silky yet simultaneously tight and crisp."

Jamie Goode ~ "So aromatic with lovely pear and passionfruit. Very floral and open, but with delicate grapefruit, too. The palate is crisp and transparent with lovely lemon, pear and lively grapefruit characters. So exotic, fresh and precise with amazing focus and freshness."

The Wine Advocate ~ "The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc has a fragrant nose of elderflower, lavender, lemongrass and fresh herbs with hints of struck match and ground stones. Medium-bodied with a lovely satiny texture and great intensity, it has a lively acid backbone and long savory finish."

The Winemaker ~ "Flinty, with floral notes, complimented by exotic tropical fruit of quava, melon, lemon and lime. A mineral backbone, soft lingering acidity, textural palate, strong citrus core. Ideal wine to enjoy young, may be cellared 2+ years." It was an exciting day for wine lovers when Cloudy Bay's former viticulturalist and winemaker Ivan Sutherland and James Healy decided to go out on their own. This is their brilliantly aromatic Sauvignon, with bright gooseberry, minerally complexity.

Organic philosophies drive Dog Point's approach to wine growing and in March 2012, 150 hectares of Vineyards were certified organic by BioGro New Zealand, with another 60 hectares certified as C1 (2 years in conversion).

A flock of around 2,000 sheep including Romney, Perendale Cross and Merino Wiltshire Cross are grazed in the winter to keep the grass low and fertilise as they go.

After pruning; all the prunings, any grass or cover crops are mulched and added to the compost heap. This is spread under the vines to help conserve moisture and improve soil structure. A mob of 25 steers are also grazed on the property.
