Crowded House Pinot Gris 2016 - Marlborough, NZ
Bronze - Air New Zealand Wine Award
Bronze - International Wine Challange
Winestate - 4 stars
Winestate "New from the winemakers famous for their Sauvignon Blanc. This Pinot Gris is set to become a cult favourite."
The Winemaker "...Aromatic notes of quince, pear and apricot blossom jump from the glass and lead to an elegant, focussed palate with a lovely pure line and fl avour persistence, finishing dry and cleansing.....The 2015/16 growing season was warm and dry, enabling Pinot Gris to be picked with pristine flavours at relatively low sugar levels. This has ensured that the wine maintains a lightness and freshness while at the same time offering palate weight and texture thanks to the variety’s inherent richness."
Crowded House is a multi-award winning, Marlborough based winery. The name Crowded House could be a nod to the famous Kiwi rock band, but actually stems from the crowded, yet unique Marlborough region and the winemakers mission to "stand out from this crowded world of wine." Crowded House wines are fresh, approachable and expressive with clean, crisp aromatics.
Marlborough is by far New Zealand's most important wine region. Situated at the north-eastern tip of the South Island, this dry, sunny region produces around three-quarters of all New Zealand wine. It is particularly famous for its pungent, zesty Sauvignon Blanc - widely considered by critics to be the best Sauvignon currently produced anywhere on the planet. Commercial scale viticulture began in Marlborough the 1970s – it conquered the world within 25 years!
