Bodegas Labastida "Castillo Labastida" Crianza Rioja DOCa 2013 ~ Rioja, Spain
Mundus Vini 2016 ~ Silver
Wine Seek "...It shows body, good complexity, strength and richness of nuances in the mouth as well as good persistency. Ruby tone at the centre with a dark deep colour and lively edge. Cherry and blackberry jam. The wood, although noticeable, complements the openly fruity character of the wine, adding some cinnamon and toasted vanilla notes to the aroma’s finish. Full with a potent impression, which supports the balance between good acidity and a velvety feel. On the finish, it shows a mix of dairy and marinated fruit."
Made from 100% Tempranillo, this is a more modern style of Rioja. It's a juicy wine that shows dark spicy fruits on the nose, with sniffs of curry spice and toastiness. The palate is medium-bodied and lightly-oaked, with more spicy flavours, suade-like tannins, and a succulent finish.
