Ken Gargett, Winepilot.com "A soft deep red here. The nose offers chocolate, spices, florals and excellent oak integration. There is a little of the oak still evident, but the life which is ahead of this wine will see it more than melt away. There are red fruits, red currants, soft dry herbs, tobacco leaf characters and more. A really lovely nose here. Good density and fine length on the palate, right through to fine tannins. A delicious red, brilliant value, and one which not only offers much now, but has a decade or more ahead of it."

In South Australia's Barossa Valley, the Kalleske family have been farming and growing grapes since 1853 near the town of Greenock. They are one of the region's leading grape-growing families consistently growing some of the Barossa's best quality grapes.

Winemaker Troy Kalleske is a sixth-generation Barossa vintner. Formerly part of the winemaking team at Penfolds, Kalleske is considered one of the Australia’s best young winemakers.

The 120 acre vineyard is planted to Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon, Chenin Blanc, Mataro, Petit Verdot, Durif, Viognier, Tempranillo and Zinfandel. Vines vary in age with the oldest remaining vineyard dating back to 1875 and an overall average vine age of about 50 years. The vineyard is low yielding with grapes grown organically and biodynamically and the winery is also certified biodynamic/organic.

Winemakers notes "A full-bodied, full-flavoured classic is the promise behind the very deep brick red colour. Notes of tea leaf, cedar, sweet berries, spice, chocolate and cigar box aromas fill the glass. Ripe black forest fruits and spice are balanced by rounded tannins and seamless structure. The palate reflects the nose with flavours of cedar, stewed fruit and cigar box. Fine drying tannins. A pleasant lingering finish with restrained oak notes of mocha and tobacco. A fresh vibrant palate with good depth of flavour and layers of fruit. Very tight wine that is complex but not confusing."

JJ Hahn is a result of a partnership with gun winemaker Rolf Binder and the Hahn family who have been growing grapes in the Barossa since 1845. JJ Hahn's 'Reginald' has become known as a consistently high quality and great value example of the classic Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

This 2013 vintage of JJ Hahn Reginald is a full-flavoured Barossa red wine offering up ripe black forest fruits and mocha flavours, along with some attractive spice, rounded soft tannins and excellent persistent weight on the palate. A complex yet approachable red - this will appeal to the many fans of this outstanding Aussie red.
