Chateau Mont Redon Côtes Du Rhone Rouge (Grenache, Syrah) 2013 ~ Côtes du Rhône, France

This is great……and here’s why!

“This well-known, large Chateauneuf-du-Pape estate has produced some of the greatest Chateauneuf-du-Pape’s I have ever tasted.” Robert Parker ~ Oct 2011

Château Mont-Redon is one of the oldest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape est in 1344. Château Mont-Redon will be familiar to those who know and love Châteauneuf-du-Pape being well recognized as the owners of some of the most highly regarded vineyard sites in the appellation.

The superb quality of its vineyards has been recognized throughout history and prior to the adaptation of the appellation controlee system it was one of the few “Grand cru’s” in the region (together with Chateau Rayas). Mont-Redon is a candidate for the most improved producer and the best value producer of the Southern Rhone.

Mont Redon Côtes du Rhône Rouge is ranked among the top 10 wines from this region according to number of prizes won with a number of Gold medals and a 90+ score from Decanter (2011 Vinatge) and a Top 10 from The Telegraph (UK). This is an excellent affordable Rhone red and is a blend of Grenache and Syrah grapes. ~ "Sweet, ripe crushed red berry fruit flavors and aromas are offset by bright, vibrant notes of black pepper and a suggestion of leather in this wine, and are supported by supple, medium-bodied tannins."

Winemaker's tasting notes ~ " Bright deep violet hue. The nose is fruit driven with blueberry and black cherry character. The palate combines finesse and roundness and has a spicy finish. The great balance and freshness lead to an immediately drinking and enjoyable red wine even if its structure will permit several years of cellaring. (March, 2015)"
