1 x Chateau Puy Razac Saint Emilion Grand Cru Vin 2021 - Bordeaux, France

Gold - Concours International de Lyon 2021
Médaille d'Or Gilbert et Gaillard 2020 (2019 vintage)

Haute valeur environnemental

Merlot 70% and Cabernet Franc 30%

Gerrard Seal "A great little wine that is made to please."

Robert Mitchell "This super little Saint-Emilion comes from the southern part of Saint-Emilion close to Chateau Pavie. It's a classic Saint-Emilion pairing but rather than being aged in oak barrels as its big brother is, this is fermented and aged solely in stainless steel tanks. The wine has a delightful ruby colour and gives intense aromas of red fruits. The palate is elegant and well balanced and leads to a long, true finish." (2019 vintage)

Château Puy-Razac was founded by the legenedary French vigneron, Guy Thoilliez. His success at Château Monbousquet evolved into a professional interest in his own winery creating premium wine of exceptional quality. The winery has Grand Cru status. Château Puy-Razac is located at the foot of the famous 'Pavie' hillside, in the southern part of Saint-Emilion. With exposure to a magnificent sandy-clayey terroir guarantees very well structured wines that are known for their ability to age. The winery produces Cabernet Franc and Merlot (55%).

Saint-Émilion is a fortified historical village that is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but it also has two wine AOCs that are renowned worldwide: Saint-Émilion and Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. The latter appellation also allows the following titles: “Grand Cru classé” and “Premier Grand Cru classé”. The two appellations are geographically intertwined and benefit from an amazing diversity of soil and sub-soil types. They produce a wide variety of wines that can be supple, big, elegant, fruity or mineral. While the two appellation areas are hard to distinguish geographically, only the best wines are entitled to the Grand Cru appellation. They all uphold Saint-Émilion’s values of being genuine, genial and of great quality.

Red Bordeaux Blends are known for their powerful structure and deep flavors. Dark fruits and berries such as plum and blackcurrant are commonly used to describe the flavors of red Bordeaux, although there is an unlimited range of terms that have been ascribed to them. Tannins tend to be relatively high in these wines, giving them a firm structure.

1 x Château Du Vieux Montpezat (Organic) 2016 ~ Bordeaux, France

Organic

Acclaimed owner of a St Emillion Grand Cru

Connoisseur "Forward in character and crowd-pleasing in style, with the ability to age."

Wine Enthusiast "This lightly structured wine is all fruit. Its red berry flavors are already well integrated with the smoky tannins that form its core." (2014 Vintage)

The Winemaker "Aromas of cherries, cassis, blueberries, cedar, tobacco, cocoa, pencil, pepper, laurel, oregano and violet. Fleshy, juicy, velvety on the palate, dense fruit, delicately spicy, complex, very elegant and long-lasting. Aged for 12 months in 1/3 new oak barrels." (2014 Vintage)

Roger Barlow "There are very pleasant fruity, ripe plum and spice aromas on the nose that continue on the palate. This is a delicious wine with a generous palate, fine-grained tannins, a voluptuous structure and a long finish." (2015 vintage)

70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc

Jean-Francois Meynard and Christelle Gauthier produce wine from three different Bordeaux appellations, all close to the Dordogne River; Côtes de Castillon, Saint Emilion and Entre-Deux-Mers. The most famous estate being Château L’Etoile de Clotte, a Saint Emilion Grand Cru. Both of their families have roots in the region extending back to the 19th century. Located in Saint Magne De Castillon, Château Du Vieux Montpezat is a small 10 hectare property operated on the principles of organic agriculture.

Bordeaux's Côtes de Castillon appellation is a growing area with AOC status since 1989. The approximately 3000 hectares of vineyards border Saint-Émilion and Bergerac and has similar tasting wines which are less expensive than its famous neighbours.

Bordeaux, in the southwest of France, needs little introduction as one of the world's most famous, prestigious and prolific wine regions. Its three trump cards are diversity, quality and quantity. The majority of Bordeaux wines (nearly 90 per cent of production volume) are the dry, medium- and full-bodied red Bordeaux Blends that established its reputation. The finest (and most expensive) of these come from the great châteaux of the Haut-Médoc and the Right Bank appellations Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. The legendary reds are complemented by high-quality white wines, both dry styles (particularly from Pessac-Léognan) and the sweet, botrytized nectars of Sauternes.

A Bordeaux Blend is any combination of those grape varieties typically used to make the red wines of Bordeaux. Cabernet Sauvignon is widely accepted as a compulsory component of any Bordeaux Blend along with Merlot. In fact, the majority of Bordeaux Blend wines are often made exclusively from a blend of these two varieties. The remaining components are Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

Anna Lee C. Iijima "A vein of graphite extends from nose to finish in this plump, blueberry-scented blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Fresh black-plum and cherry flavors are ripe but pure, lifted by hints of blossomy perfume and a lingering crush of minerality on the finish. Although at its best young, the wine should hold through 2025".

Wine Enthusiast "This blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah offer elegant restraint alongside pristine black-cherry and berry exuberance. Fruity and forward, it's shaded by nuances of thyme and wild mint. Fresh acidity and firm tannins lend structure. Enjoy this approachable yet elegant wine now through 2023." (2016 Vintage)

Robert Parker "Another spice-filled effort ... it has a kiss of green in its leafy herbs, mint, incense and sweet red fruits. Moderately concentrated, medium-bodied and easy drinking." (2015 Vintage)

Gault & Millau "Amazing wine with wild scents, captivating red fruits and peony, violet, tinted eucalyptus that permanently mark the taste buds!" (2015 Vintage)

Jancis Robinson "Flattering, macerated red fruits. Very open nose and light. Good freshness" (2015 Vintage)

Wine Spectator "Juicy, with raspberry coulis and plum skin notes lined with hints of anise and toasted vanilla. Offers an open, easy finish. Drink now. 5,500 cases made." (2015 Vintage)

The Winemaker "Beautiful deep colour of ruby colour. This wine is clean, bright. Aromatic nose, rich ripe fruit (blackberry and plum). Good concentration, wide and strong end of a long and beautiful evolution." (2015 Vintage)

This wine is Grenache (50%) Syrah (25%) Mourvèdre (25%).

While Chateau Maucoil only has a short history as a vineyard, the estate has a long history in the Rhone Valley that dates back to the Ancient Romans who used the property as an army fortress. Vines were planted in what we now know as Chateau Maucoil during the mid 1600s.

In 2014, Chateau Maucoil was certified as being 100% biodynamic. The Cotes du Rhone Villages appellation was introduced in 1966 and now applies to 16 in the southern Rhone Valley. Wines made under the appellation must meet higher standards than those of the plain Cotes de Rhone title and are from areas that show potential to produce distinctive wine of a high standard.

Domaine La Décelle is located in the heart of the Enclave des Papes, south of the village of Valréas. Its particular latitude and altitude give it unique climatic conditions, conducive to the production of structured and complex wines with incredible freshness. Benoît and Frédéric Lavau literally fell in love with this terroir and acquired the Domaine in 2010. The 82 hectares of the Domaine extend over different sectors of the commune of Valréas at different altitudes and on varied clay-type soils. limestone or sand.

Originally from Bordeaux, the Lavau family has been involved with winemaking for generations, and have had vineyards ranging from Bordeaux to Tunisia. In 1964 they were seduced by the richness and quality of the Provencal soil, and settled down to make wine in the Rhone Valley.

Valréas is famous for its truffles, its lavender and its historic Papal treasures, but Domaine La Décelle’s treasure lies in the clay-rich and sandy soils of its wind-swept vineyards. A little further north than Gigondas or Cairanne and slightly higher in altitude, La Décelle produces a Valréas that is naturally fresher in style.

1 x La Goutte du Seigneur Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2022 - Rhone, France

Organic

WInemaker "La Goutte du Seigneur is a divine refreshment, with a nose of wild strawberries, a fresh and thirst-quenching palate, a lively finish and silky tannins."

50% Grenache, 50% Syrah.
Alcohol: 13.5%

The name of this organic and biodynamically farmed cuvée refers to their family name, translating as "Drop of the Lord".

Bernard Duseigneur "Seizing the opportunity that nature gives us; that is the essence of biodynamics for me"

Bernard Duseigneur, hailing from a lineage of winemakers, assumed control of the family's domaine in 2002 after a stint in investment banking. Returning to his Mediterranean origins, he continued the legacy of his father and brother, ultimately settling in Châteauneuf-du-Pape on the left bank of the Rhône.

In Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the terroir isn't solely defined by iconic orange pebbles; it comprises diverse soils like red clays, limestone, sandstone sands, and loams from the Rhone's banks. Acknowledging that exceptional terroir alone isn't enough for quality wines, Bernard prioritizes soil vitality. His team nurtures a diverse flora and fauna that mobilize trace elements, fostering symbiosis between plant and soil.

Wine Enthusiast "This wine has structure as well as vibrant black fruits. Its juicy, fruity character contrasts with the open, perfumed flavors."

Decanter "A balanced and complex palate combining a textured palate with lightness of fruit flavour. It has an amazing ability to taste deep and rich but be elegant, light and refreshing on the palate. Very impressive with supple black berry flavours alongside a minerality that comes through as wet stones, chalk and metal. It finishes on a slightly spiced mint note. Again, like La Rochelle, you can really taste terroir - grapes come from a single-vineyard plot located above the windmill at the top of the appellation with eastern exposure sitting in a wind tunnel that affects their maturation and concentration. Soils are sandy granite with an underlayer of clay."

Wine Spectator "Blackberry compote and dark cherry flavors are encased by velvety tannins in this light-bodied red, with floral and spice details lingering into the finish. Drink now through 2024."

Decanter "With 2018, Moulin-à-Vent has experienced four great vintages in a row and while they maybe a little less colour and concentration than in 2017, the quality is extremely high with quantity to match."

The Winemaker “A crimson colour with intense, complex aromas including floral scents (roses, peonies), dark berry aromas and hints of kirsch, sweet spices and pepper. Full, rich and fleshy on the palate, its tannins are mentholated, silky and distinctive, giving the wine a good structure. We recommend to taste this wine at 15-16 °C.”

Domaine du Pourpre is a family-run estate in the commune of Chénas. The Meziat family has been running it for 5 generations. Vines are more than 50 years old.

This wine is produced by Les Vins Georges Duboeuf which is one of the largest wine producers in France founded by the late Georges Duboeuf who was affectionately known as 'le roi du Beaujolais' (the king of Beaujolais) or sometimes pape du Beaujolais (Pope of Beaujolais). Les Vins Georges Duboeuf produces a staggering 3 million cases of wine annually. The company is most well-known for its popularization and production of Beaujolais wines. In 2018 Georges’ passed control of his company to his son Franck Duboeuf, who is considered to be one of the key specialists in Beaujolais, its terroir and its wine, and has shifted production to focus more on Beaujolais Nouveau.

Moulin-à-Vent is situated in the north of the Beaujolais region in France. It is one of the most famous crus and named after the local windmill – the literal translation of the name. It is a historic appellation with a vine-growing history dating back hundreds of years. It was officially granted appellation status in 1936 – one of the first in the country.

Decanter "Moulin-à-Vent is considered the ‘king’ of the ten Beaujolais crus for the power, concentration, structure and ageability of its wines."

Beaujolais is an important wine region of eastern France in the southern part of Burgundy, famous for its vibrant, fruity red wines made from Gamay. It is located immediately south of Burgundy, of which it is sometimes considered to be a part, despite being within the Rhone administrative region. The widespread plantings of Gamay here make Beaujolais one of the few regions of the world to be so focused on a single grape variety. In some vintages, Beaujolais produces more wine than the Burgundy wine regions of Chablis, Côte d'Or, Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais put together.

Gamay is a grape variety that is most famous for producing the light, fruit-driven red wines of Beaujolais. While the variety offers fresh, red-fruit and candied aromas, it typically delivers little in the way of flavor concentration and body weight, giving light, simple wines.
