Served on Singapore Airlines Business Class.
Raymond Chan ~ 18/20. 4.5 Stars “Andrew Greenhough and Jenny Wheeler are stalwarts of the Nelson winegrowing region ... They produce some of Nelson’s very best wines ... The 2015 vintage was Andrew and Jenny’s 25th. One can see the increasing elegance and sophistication of wine style over the years … Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with light lemon-green hues, pale edged. The nose is upfront with voluminous aromas of fresh and bright passionfruit, lime and green capsicum aromas enlivened by mouthwatering mineral elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is elegant in proportion with a finely concentrated core of sweet passionfruit, lime and capsicum flavours with nettly detail. Fresh, lacy acidity balances the fruit richness and brightens the mouthfeel, driving the palate along a fine phenolic line. The flavours carry through to a refreshing finish with fruit succulence. This is an elegant, sweet, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with a refreshing mouthfeel. Serve as an aperitif, with seafood, and salads and vegetables over the next 2 years… Certified BioGro organic.”
Previous vintages also received strong reviews, and several awards.
Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to NZ Wines, 2015 (2014 vintage) Michael Cooper ~ “Greenhough aims for a 'rich Sauvignon Blanc style with ripe, creamy mouthfeel' - and hits the target with ease. The 2014 vintage is crisp, punchy and dry with vibrant melon, lime and passionfruit flavours, a touch of complexity and a long finish. Certified organic."

93/100 - Wine Orbit, Nov 2014. "This is vibrant and juicy like many excellent sauvignons but with a touch of sophistication. It's beautifully fragrant on the nose showing white peach, mango, lime zest and dill aromas, followed by a focused and textured palate that's silky and refined as well as lively and mouth-watering. Lovely concentration, and finishes beautifully long. At its best: now to 2018." (2014 vintage)
The Wine Advocate (Robert Parker) rated a previous vintage we stocked at 90 points and this 2015 vintage is just as good, if not a little better. Nelson is a small, little-known wine region at the northern end of New Zealand's South Island. Surrounded on three sides by mountains, it enjoys a unique mesoclimate that is perfect for aromatic grape varieties. Established in 1841, Nelson was the South Island's first city. Early settlers planted vines, but the modern viticultural industry didn't begin to blossom until the 1970s. Nelson is now home to about 25 wineries, most small, boutique operations producing premium wines.
Though Nelson’s wine scene lacks the international recognition of neighbouring Marlborough, the region is practically swimming in award-winning vineyards. In fact, if you consider awards won per acre of vines, Nelson is the most acclaimed wine region in New Zealand. Nelson has a cool, maritime climate that is ideal for Chardonnays, Sauvignon Blancs, Pinot Noirs, and Reislings. It is protected on three sides by mountain ranges, which protect the vines against extreme weather.
