New Zealand International Wine Show - Constellation Brands Trophy (2013 vintage)
International Wine & Spirit Competition ~ Bronze (2013 vintage)
James Halliday "5 star" Winery (2013 vintage) - James Halliday : "Smooth to the point of satiny; ripe without being overdone; fleshy and delicious all the way to the end. Regardless of price there's little more one could ask; the price simply makes it all the more attractive."
The 2013 vintage was a very good one for reds in the Clare Valley. Warm days and cool nights promoted full fruit ripeness and flavour development whilst still retaining tremendous poise, natural acidity and tannin balance.
From humble beginnings in 1997 with just 25,000 bottles produced from the first vintage, Kilikanoon has grown significantly, now exporting to over 25 countries. Kilikanoon are now one of the leading wine brands in Australia.
The 2002 Clare Valley Wine Show chaired by prominent Australian wine writer and judge, Huon Hooke, propelled Kilikanoon into the spotlight, winning 6 of the 7 trophies awarded. James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion named Kilikanoon 'Winery of the Year' in 2013. In 2014, Kevin Mitchell was inducted into the inaugural Clare Valley Hall of Fame as Winemaker of the Year.
