Robert Parker - "Opening with youthfully subdued peach, lime cordial, and jasmine notes with nuances of allspice and baking bread. Fills the palate with plenty of crisp, intense lemon/lime and savory flavors, finishing refreshingly dry and minerally."

James Halliday - "Like all Kilikanoon's Rieslings, no-frills to the vinification, just attention to detail. Incongruously, it is a blend of three vineyards. The bouquet owes as much to minerally notes as to citrus fruit, and the palate duly brings structure and length for the lemon/lime flavours and firm finish."

Jeremy Oliver - "Young and lean, this searingly intense and taut riesling reveals a penetrative fragrance of lime juice, mineral and lemon zest."

Kilikanoon is recognized as one of Australia's leading wineries. From humble beginnings in 1997 with just 25,000 bottles produced from the first vintage, Kilikanoon has grown significantly, now exporting to over 25 countries. Mort Mitchell is Kilikanoon’s godfather and father to founder and winemaker Kevin Mitchell. Mort planted the vines which bear his name in the Clare Valley sub-region of Watervale in the early 1970’s. He carefully tended to these vines for over 40 years and it is his efforts that allow Kilikanoon to produce such a fantastic example of Clare Valley Riesling year on year.

The 2002 Clare Valley Wine Show chaired by prominent Australian wine writer and judge, Huon Hooke, propelled Kilikanoon into the spotlight, winning 6 of the 7 trophies awarded.

Watervale is a sub-region of the Clare Valley renowned for its dry white wines from the Riesling grape variety.

The town of Watervale lies just off the Riesling Trail about 15 kilometers (9 miles) south of Clare, and is surrounded by wineries including Annie's Lane, Crabtree and Shut the Gate. Many wineries from elsewhere in the Clare Valley also make wines from the vineyards here.

The Clare Valley as a whole lies at higher altitudes than the Barossa Valley; the regional climate has more extreme variations and acidity adjustments are not required as often. But the Clare Valley region can be divided into many subtly different microclimates, Watervale being one of them.
