Lavau Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2018 - Rhone, France
Curious Wines "Exceptionally round, easy-drinking style with bright berry fruit, mild acidity and the softest, most mannerly, of tannins. Very aromatic and fruity, with come-hither notes of cherry, strawberry and raspberry, with flickers of pink peppercorn and cola. Your new best friend!"
The Winemaker "A lovely expression of blackcurrants and crushed raspberries on the nose, fresh and fruity on the palate."

Grenache noir (60%) Syrah (40%)
This wine comes from a selection of vineyards from across the southern Rhône Valley, extending from Montélimar to Nîmes. The Grenache and Syrah are planted in clay-limestone plains and cultivated to achieve yields of around 50 hl/ha. The grapes are entirely de-stemmed and placed in temperature-controlled vats to macerate for around 15 days with only pumping-over operations, after cold pre-fermentation maceration. The wine is aged in vats until it is bottled 1 year later.
Originally from Bordeaux, the Lavau family has been involved with winemaking for generations, and have had vineyards ranging from Bordeaux to Tunisia. In 1964 they were seduced by the richness and quality of the Provencal soil and settled down to make wine in the Rhone Valley.
The cellars of Lavau are currently managed by Benoit and Frederic Lavau, who work in partnership with 350 different grape growers. Benoit is a frequent visitor to Singapore and Pop Up Wine events.
