Wine Enthusiast "The palate is very youthful and pungent with searing acidity and a tight but intriguing texture, the fruit squeaking."

Bob Campbell, The Real Review "Fresh, punchy sauvignon blanc with gentle passionfruit, melon, lime juice and grapefruit flavours. A simple, appealing wine with good varietal and regional definition."

Decanter World Wine Awards "Smoky aromas surrounded by peach and nectarine lead to a ripe palate of gooseberry and passionfruit. Zingy acidity on fresh finish."

Bob Campbell, The Real Review "Attractively fresh, pungent sauvignon blanc with classic gooseberry, passionfruit and capsicum flavours. A nicely balanced wine, with fruity acidity and subtle sweetness building a pleasing tension." (2019 vintage)

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate "Passion fruit, nectarine and citrus notes abound on the nose of the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc. It's medium-bodied and crisp, finishing clean and refreshing. A solid effort." (2019 vintage)

Decanter World Wine Awards "Complex, lifted spicy and zingy gooseberry aromas. Lovely palate weight and texture, with concentration and balance on the long layered finish. Excellent." (2019 vintage)

The Winemaker "Pronounced passionfruit together with fresh herbs, fruit salad
and floral aromas lead to an intense, fruit-driven palate with a chalky minerality and good concentration. This wine is from the outstanding 2020 vintage and rates highly on the drinkability scale!"

Selected by Air New Zealand for the inflight international business class pouring program.

These wines are made to the cellar as the grapes were gently pressed before fermentation in stainless steel tanks with a percentage going into older French oak barriques, with yeast selected specifically to enhance the wines natural aromatic characters.

Ottawa Life Magazine "Vibrant gooseberry and grassy aromas. Light on its feet but clean, almost shimmers in the glass with fresh tastes of lemon, lime and some tropical fruit on the palate. There's a little green apple creating great acidity and something vegetal on the finish that reminded me of green peppers. Made me think that it would be a nice white wine with a salad nicoise or sushi, a great lunch wine or as a refreshing glass of wine on its own" (2017 Vintage)

Raymond Chan Wine "Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues. The nose is fresh and tightly bound with penetrating aromas of lively pungent passionfruit, lifted herbs and bright floral detail. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, tight and piercing fruit flavours of gooseberries, florals and herbs form a very finely textured, vibrant and energetic line. The mouthfeel has a fresh acid cut and reveals some passionfruit and minerally detail. This is elegant, tightly bound lively Sauvignon Blanc with floral and gooseberry flavours." (2017 Vintage)

Founded by Ross and Barbara Lawson in 1982, this estate is firmly part of the Marlborough establishment, home to New Zealand’s most famous Sauvignon Blancs.

The Sauvignon Blanc taste is one of the most identifiable in the world of white wines for a few reasons. First, it always has crisp, high acidity. Second, it has a chemical compound called pyrazine which gives grassy, herbal or bell pepper flavors. When grown in cooler climates or picked early, the herbaceous green character is most prominent. In warmer climates or allowed to hang longer on the vine, the pyrazine character diminishes in favor of riper fruit flavors ranging from grapefruit, to passion fruit and guava.
