Raffaele Vecchione "Captivating and decidedly deep in the main profile it shows notes of black plums, blackberries, sour cherries, vanilla, cinnamon powder and withered red flowers. Medium-full body, slightly rustic tannins in the sip that will need time to relax and a finish of medium-long persistence."

Wine Enthusiast "The fruit-driven nose offers pleasantly plump aromas of dark cherry and blackberry dipped in brandy, with pipe tobacco and warm spice accents lending depth. Smooth yet copious tannins frame the densely packed, medium-bodied palate, with a glossy texture lending harmony to the whole."

Falstaff "Rich, dark luminous garnet. Rich, noble cherries on the nose, intense fragrance, rich bouquet with dried rose petals, ripe raspberries, forest fruits, undergrowth. Full and clear on the palate with a great structure, spreads out with ripe red fruit, powerful, already harmonious, with emphasis." (2018 Vintage)

Alexander Peartree, Wine Enthusiast "Aromas of brandy-soaked dark cherry, anise, allspice and chopped mint show depth, concentration and purity in this Montepulciano that sees time in French oak. It's rich in feel on the palate, but counterbalanced by a bright core of acidity that pushes along the dense berry and spice flavors. There's a polish to it all that makes it accessible in the near term, but it would also hold well through 2028. " (2018 Vintage)

Raffaele Vecchione “A wine of great quality that will amaze in the coming years....Hints of black plum, blackberry and black currant with notes of asphalt and concrete. Full body, ripe and round tannins and a balanced and acidic finish. I like the energy and freshness that it can instill.” (2016 Vintage)

Jeb Dunnuck “It’s a beautiful wine....another beautiful release from this estate....It’s rich, medium to full-bodied, and powerful on the palate, with plenty of structure...Coming from 100% Montepulciano and aged in new barrels, it reveals a dense purple/plum color as well as unevolved notes of spiced blackberries, scorched earth, smoked herbs, chocolate, and spring flowers.” (2016 Vintage)

Vinous “....a truly lovely red wine.....Pure aromas of plum, smoke, oak and sweet spices. Dense, suave and deep, offering rich, concentrated flavors of red cherry and dark plum lifted by a hint of violet. The finish is both luscious and long, and features rising, youthfully peppery, chewy tannins.” (2016 Vintage)

James Suckling "The blueberries and cloves are intense on the nose. Medium body, firm and silky tannins and a delicious finish. Drink now." (2016 Vintage)

Wine Enthiusiast "The firm medium-bodied palate is silken in feel upon entry, built by ripe cherry and dark berry flavors. Rounded tannins provide solid support alongside tangy acidity." (2016 Vintage)

Huon Hooke "The bouquet is very oaky, very nutty: a bit too oaky for me. The wine is medium to full-bodied and has good depth and mouth-filling properties. A big, strong wine." (2015 Vintage)

Decanter "This family concern has grown from 2.5ha to more than 300ha since the early 1980s. Created in 1997, this flagship wine is full of character: medium-weight with black fruit flavours, firm tannins balanced by floral scents and refreshing acidity. A great all-round foodie wine." (2013 Vintage)

Robert Parker "Dark and thickly concentrated, the 2009 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Marina Cvetic S Martino Rosso is a beautifully polished and compelling wine from Abruzzo. The bouquet reveals power and heft with evident layers of black fruit, prune, spice, cured meat and dark leather. There is a wild or untamed element here that is often evident in the wines of this estate. It perfectly reflects the rocky edges and dramatic landscape of this beautiful region in central Italy." (2009 Vintage)

Abruzzo is an Italian wine region located in central Italy tucked between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic coast. While wine is produced in all four of Abruzzo's provinces, most of the production takes place in the province of Chieti which is the fifth largest producing province in all of Italy. Some of the most highly rated wine from Abruzzo comes from the hillside vineyards in the northern provinces of Pescara and Teramo.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is one of Italy's most famous wines. This classic, well-rounded, plum-scented Italian red is made from Montepulciano grapes grown in the Abruzzo region, on Italy's Adriatic coast. It is quite distinct from Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which is a Sangiovese-based wine from Tuscany.
