Chateau Mont Redon Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2014 ~ Côtes du Rhône, France
“This well-known, large Chateauneuf-du-Pape estate has produced some of the greatest Chateauneuf-du-Pape’s I have ever tasted.” Robert Parker ~ Oct 2011 Established in 1344.
Château Mont-Redon is one of the oldest estate's in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Château Mont-Redon will be familiar to those who know and love Châteauneuf-du-Pape, being well recognized as the owners of some of the most highly regarded vineyard sites in the appellation.
The superb quality of its vineyards has been recognized throughout history and prior to the adaptation of the appellation controlee system it was one of the few “Grand cru’s” in the region (together with Chateau Rayas). Mont-Redon is a candidate for the most improved producer and the best value producer of the Southern Rhone.
This Cotes du Rhone wine has received excellent critic ratings for its various vintages. Full bodied white wine without wood aging with spicy citrus fruit. Made to drink young. Delicious for any occasion. A blend of Roussanne and Viognier this wine is perfumed and fresh with texture and charm in abundance.
Helen Savage, The Journal ~ ".....In the right hands, Roussanne is capable of even greater things, as is shown by Château Mont-Redon’s 2013 Côtes du Rhône, made another of the valley’s finest estates. It includes 10% of the even more perfumed Viognier in the blend. It has a tantalisingly fresh, floral bouquet, with just as much juicy acidity as Chapoutier’s Luberon, but a richer, more lingering flavour. All the 2013 whites I tasted impressed me, but the few 2014 already in bottle or samples drawn from a range of barrels and tanks promise even greater delights."
Winemaker's tasting notes - "Complex nose with white peach and hawthorn notes. The focused mid-palate displays a really fruit forwarded wine with a wide range of aromas. A decent acidity provides to this wine a refreshing finish. (March, 2015)"
