Winestate Magazine "Equal Top In Category "Cab + Bordeaux Challenge". Eligible for "Wine of the Year Awards".

Huon Hooke "Deep red with a good tint of purple and walnutty, coconutty oak overtones on the nose. The wine is full-bodied and firmly structured with lots of density, tannin grip and stuffing. It has good drive through to a long finish and just needs a litte time—or protein-rich food—to soften it off. There's an excellent core of ripe fruit and classic structure that bodes well for the future. "

Ray Jordan "Patrick Single vineyard Home Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 There is a pure essence of Coonawarra in this excellent cabernet sourced off the original 60-year-old vineyard planted near the family home. Masses of plush dark blackcurrant and spicy cedary fruit characters. A tobacco leaf and sage bush character overlays the aromatic fruit. It was quite a warm vintage, so you are getting of wine of some power and volume. Cellar - 12 years."

Erin Larkin "This is savoury to the end of days, with salted licorice, black pepper, blackberry compote, poached rhubarb and black tea, too. Despite the moderate alcohol, this drinks like a big wine, with extraordinary intensity. Sporting a new (and improved) label, this is very good, and stylistically very confident."

QWine "Patrick of Coonawarra is one of the quiet achievers in the historic region. One of their strengths is their ability to produce age-worthy reds and whites. This Cabernet off the Home Block is no different. By the way, I love the new labels. There is a consistent shape about the Patrick reds and this holds the model true. On opening, be greeted by choc mint before cedar and sandalwood fuse together and produce something akin to the famed Caramello Koala but that moves on after can't be seen on day two of tasting. Sheets of black fruits lay beneath with cameos of black olives and leather. Some tension in the mid-palate, this is a wine built to live long. Those patient enough will reap the reward in the many years to come. Either that or just give it a good decant now. Great stuff."

James Halliday “Matured in new French and American oak for 28 months, a powerful start in life. Both during its time in barrel and since being bottled, the oak has been integrated to a surprising degree, making space for blackcurrant. This is a wine of exceptional quality, with a now to whenever drinking platform.” (2013 vintage)

Winestate "An elegantly structured wine that is offering great drinking now or over the next 10 years! Shows great concentration of dark berry." (2013 vintage)

Winemaker "2 years in new French & American, tightly grained, medium toast oak barriques. These techniques ensure this wine is complex & will age gracefully. Rich cassis & red fruit aromas combine with spice & cedar notes. The palate is concentrated with dark chocolate, blackcurrant & mulberry flavours with harmonised French oak, adding hints of spice. The structure is fantastic with fine, elegant tannins leading to the long, balanced finish." (2013 vintage)

Home Block is an award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon, produced from vines surrounding the Tocaciu family home. It is a single vineyard parcel grown on terra rossa soil from vines planted in 1960.

Home Block was the first wine that Pat released for the family business. It shows the true essence of Coonawarra – rich, dark berry fruits and elegant tannins.

Patrick of Coonawarra was founded by Patrick Tocaciu; one of Australia's leading wine (and AFL football) figures. Patrick's reputation for producing exceptional wine earned him many international accolades for the major labels he worked as Chief Winemaker, including; Tollana, Penfolds, and Hollick Wines. Patrick's distinguished reputation continued with the establishment of his own Patrick of Coonawarra Estate label. The wines are built on the solid foundation of extensive estate vineyards: 36 hectares in Coonawarra and 42 hectares in Wrattonbully. The Wrattonbully plantings contain shiraz, sauvignon blanc, and some of the riesling. All of the cabernet is grown in Coonawarra. The Estate is now managed by his eonologist son, Luke who continues the tradition of producing wines of varietal and regional excellence.

Coonawarra is the most important wine region within South Australia, credited with producing some of the best red wines in the entire country, and often described as Australia's most famous terroir.
