2 x Château d'Estoublon Rose (Organic) 2022 - Les Baux-de-Provence, France

92/100 James Suckling

90/100 Decanter (2019 vintage)

New launch! Owned by former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and his Supermodel & singer-songwriter wife, Carla Bruni, and Jean-Guillaume Prats of Château Lafite fame.

Decanter "Château d’Estoublon has a long winemaking history, and is today owned by some of France’s big names, including Jean-Guillaume Prats of Château Lafite fame, and former President and First Lady Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni. This is only the second vintage of Roseblood, a blend of Grenache and Cinsault with a dash of Tibouren. It’s impressive, a similar price to Whispering Angel but with more going on and real depth of flavour: tart strawberry and raspberry, with floral notes of peonies, some firm peach and apricot fruit, and a mineral streak. Serious rosé but so delicious. "

James Suckling "Notes of pink cherries, orange pith, dried flowers and praline. Medium-bodied with creamy texture and a compact core of red berries and stone fruit. Rounded and chalky with a mineral finish to it."

Decanter "Compelling earthy spice and wild strawberry flow through into the weighty, juicy palate; powerful and lengthy." (2019 vintage)

Winemaker "Beautiful pale raspberry pink color. The nose is complex and fresh with aromas of rose water, bergamot and passion fruit. On the palate, mineral notes blend harmoniously with gourmet notes of apricot and grapefruit. A rosé full of complexity with a pleasant tension."

Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Marsanne/Roussane.
Alcohol: 12.5%

World Wine "Good depth of flavour. Crunchy, Juicy, delicious. Outstanding Provence Rosé" (2020 vintage)

Mike Bennie, The Wine Front "For cafes by the water in Provence, or something like that. Pale in colour and flavour, strawberries, some light cream, a smudge of gummy tannin lending some shape. It has good and perky freshness to it, dryer fruit characters, a touch of savouriness." (2020 vintage)

Stuart Knox - The Real Review "Palest of salmon-pinks in the glass. Strawberry, lavender and pink grapefruit aromatics. Great fruit intensity and balance between that fruit and acidity. The finish has a moment of phenolic grip kick in which focuses and lengthens the palate. Very much in the modern Provençal style, ticking all the boxes for summer drinking" (2019 vintage)

Ralph Kyte-Powell - The Real Review "The merest blush of pink slightly deepens its glittering appearance, introducing a subtle, savoury style that’s incredibly appetising. There are earthy, stoney aromas, suggestions of wildflowers, and a subtle thread of plummy fruit that translate easily into a smooth, dry mouthful of tangy, ripe flavour. It’s lingering and zesty with just enough phenolic structure to make it very food-friendly. A blend of syrah, grenache and cinsault." (2019 vintage)

Epicure Good Food, Wine Guide, The Age "Outstanding French Rosé...The bouquet is subtle, and more than simple fruit. Good depth of flavour." (2019 vintage)

Terry Georga "Rameau d'Or is the most classic of Provencal rosés; from the pale pink-salmon verging on peach-flesh colour, to the savoury spice and fruit it portrays. A delicate blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Counoise from Cotes du Provence it is a refreshing, versatile wine that suits aperitif drinking and the quintessential summer rosé." (2018 vintage)

Drinkster, Philip White 'Provence Grenache Cinsault rosé stays fresh and pink with screw cap' "This is a bonny dry rosé of the best sort....mild rosepetal/rosebud perfume that wends from the thorns all the way along to Turkish delight is here....insinuations of gingery lime marmalade and leatherwood honey - are all here jumping and dancing so fresh and lovely." (2017 vintage)

Cameron Douglas MW "Attractive fragrances of light red fruits - light red cherry and strawberry with a hint of cranberry; these are repeated on the palate with crisp and refreshing acidity, very light and fine needlepoint tannins showing off a chalky mineral-like moment." (2016 vintage)

Wine of the Week "Fabulous lunchtime wine with attractive bottle presentation and a back label story to the entrance. The most delicate pink hue, subtle aromas of cherry and raspberry and almost bone dry to the taste which is savoury rather than fruity with spice and pepper nuances and a tangy finish."

Huon Hooke "An outstanding southern French rosé. The colour is pale salmon-pink and the bouquet is shy and subtle, savoury and more than simple fruit. Good depth of flavour, richness and the finish has harmony and persistence. Very more-ish. " (2015 vintage)

George Orwell ''All rosés are equal but some rosés are more equal than others.''

The Winemaker " Striking a delicate balance between fruit weight, lip smacking mineral acidity and taut, spicy fine-grained tannin - this is the Provence we know and love - tres elegant and long. Very pale with just a hint of peachy blush. On the nose, intensely floral with spice-tinged berries; on the palate it has a lovely density, laden with white peach, rose petals and grapefruit rind." (2020 vintage)

A blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Counoise

This wine is produced by Debussy which has several estates in the Rhone Valley, Provence and other Mediterranean regions. Debussy estates produce wines that express the characters and typicity of each of the French terroir that the vineyards are located, creating wines reflective of the regions and their popular wine styles. The name Rameau d'Or means 'Golden Bough' and is based on a fantastical tale of enchantments, transformations and love. A magical golden bough from an enchanted garden was given to a prince, by an eagle, to awaken a sleeping princess. A bough is so powerful that a single leaf from it would make one rich, young and beautiful. Unfortunately, this prince was not the most handsome man in his kingdom. Choosing a full led soul over outer beauty, he and his newly awoken princess set about to transform the lives of those around them.

In this definitively Mediterranean climate – no Provencal vineyard is more than 55km (25 miles) from the Mediterranean – the vines enjoy around 3000 sunshine hours per year.

Rosé derives its name from the French word for pink. In Spain it is rosado and in Italy rosato. Rosé’s flavours and styles are as varied as the food it matches. Rosé predates white and red wine with ancient rosé-style wines dating back 8,000 years. The colour of a rosé can vary dramatically. A deep fuchsia pink rosé may be bone-dry, though it’s likely to be full flavoured given balance by a gentle squeeze of tannin. Tannin primarily comes from the skin of a grape – as does colour. It’s tannin that sets rosé apart from white and red wine. Almost all wine grapes have clear juice; it’s the skins that give the colour. Grenache is the most popular grape used in rosé, with its lifted confectionary aromas, juicy red fruit flavours and mild-mannered tannins creating the textbook triumvirate for rosé. The temperate Provence region of France is home to some of the world’s most accliamed rosé, perhaps naturally, given it’s widely planted with grenache and its Rhône varietals; mourvèdre, cinsault and syrah.

VertdeVin "The wine is limpid and shiny. On the slightly pronounced pink gold with melon reflections. The first nose is expressed by fruits: a little quince, a little apple, but also stone fruits such as peaches. With aeration, it is a little more floral. The whole remains fresh with a hint of bitter almond. The attack is fresh, frank and aromatic on small acidulated red fruits such as redcurrant and wild strawberry. We find a touch of astringency in the middle of the mouth which continues on a rounder finish on the meringue. There are some fruits: white peach, candy strawberry and orange blossom. There is a good length."

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast "Grenache and Cinsault dominate this wine, with its ripe raspberry fruits and a tangy line of acidity. It is spicy, hinting at pepper and finishing with bright acidity." (2021 vintage)

James Suckling "Pale peach-straw color with aromas of white strawberry, sliced apple and cream. It’s medium-to full-bodied with a creamy texture and a smooth, stony finish." (2020 vintage)

Robert Parker "A blend of 45% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, 10% each Rolle (Vermentino) and Syrah, plus 5% each of Mourvèdre, Sémillon and Tibouren, Tamary's 2020 Cotes de Provence Rose is a pale, coppery rosé that reveals hints of brine to go alongside peach, melon and citrus notes. It's medium-bodied and nicely rounded and generous on the palate, with a gentle, easy-drinking and harmonious finish."(2020 vintage)

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast "A blend of six grapes, this pale-pink wine is aromatic and attractively ripe, with a mineral edge to freshness. The red fruits, citrus flavors and crisp aftertaste make the wine immediately attractive."(2020 vintage)

James Suckling "Plenty of peach and pear aromas and flavors with a medium to full body, lightly tinned fruit and a flavorful finish. Slightly heavier than some." (2019 vintage)

Robert Parker "A blend of 40% each Cinsault and Grenache, with 13% Syrah and 7% Mourvèdre, Tamary's 2019 Cotes de Provence Rose offers sedate notes of cantaloupe and lime zest. It's medium-bodied and plump in the mouth, with that zesty, slightly bitter note providing energy across the palate and through the long finish."(2019 vintage)

Wine-maker, Jean-Luc Zuger has been praised by top wine critics as "miraculous"

Winemaker "Lovely aromas of citrus and flowers lead to a charming, sensual palate of berries, flowers and saline-laced minerals."

45% Grenache, 35% Cinsault, 15% Mourvèdre and 5% Rolle.

Jean Luc Zuger is the owner of a famuos Chateau in the Bordeaux appellation of Margaux. Ferderic Salin is the owner of a generations-old négociant firm in Bordeaux that has excelled in representing and brokering the best and most famous wines since the end of the eighteenth century.

Both men share a passion for wine and rosé from Provence! This wine pays respect to the steep slopes in Provence on which the Cinsault grapes are grown. These slopes, or "terrassess", provide vital exposure to the sunshine, protection from the strong mistral winds and resistance to disease that are key components to retaining the freshness and crisp balance in this wine.

The Guide Hachette des Vins - the bible of the French wine industry - gave Zuger’s 2007 Bordeaux its highest three-star rating, a score reserved for exceptional wines that are a perfect example of their appellation.

Cotes de Provence is the largest appellation of the famous wine region of Provence. It covers roughly 50,000 acres (20,250ha) of vineyards, which produce the vast majority of Provence's Rosé wine.

Although it also covers red and white wine, about 85% of Cotes de Provence's wine is Rosé, made predominantly from Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsaut and the quintessentially Provencal grape Tibouren.

Tom Cannavan 'Rosé Roundup 2018' "A very attractive bottle for this wine, a lacey rose pattern screen printed in white over the pale pink/peach wines is very attractive. And so is the stuff inside: a blend of Provençal varieties, gently floral with small firm red berry fruits, good acidity and a long finish with pert acidity giving it a brisk and savoury appeal whilst still being fruit-forward." (2017 vintages)

Valerie Rousselle (winemaker) "This rosé is very typical of Provence. Perfect as an aperitif in summer and with Asian cuisine."

Chateau Roubine is located in the Provence region and is one of the oldest vineyards in France. The winery's exceptional wines are increasingly renowned internationally due to commitment to quality winemaking of the owner, Valerie Rousselle who owns several acclaimed vineyards in Provence.

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast" Carignan makes an appearance in the blend of this wine alongside Cinsault and Grenache. That adds extra spiciness and emphasizes red-berry fruits in a wine that is fresh and ready to drink." (2018 vintage)

Wine Enthusiast" A simple, soft blend from the south of France, this is a perfect apéritif—bright and crisp with acidity. It's fresh, fruity and ready to drink." (2017 vintage)

This popular soft and elegant rosé is made from a blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Carignan. A salmon-hued wine, it is lightly aromatic with notes of honeysuckle and candied fruit. Fresh and dry on the palate, with rich notes of white plums, tangerines, apricots and a hint of grapefruit.

Château Sainte Béatrice is owned by renowned Provence winemaker, Valerie Rousselle who owns the largest winery in the Lourdes region of Provence. The type of winemaking adopted at Château Ste Béatrice is said to be "à la Gironde". This very slow process requires great attention and constant monitoring but allows their wine to reach the fullness of its taste and bouquet. Château Sainte Béatrice has some vines which are 60 years old; the average is 30. Located on hillsides in the Argens River, favoured by a southern exposure, these vineyards are able to take full advantage of the Provencal sun and good irrigation to produce fresh and aromatic Rosés that speak to the wineries motto of “quality and tradition".

Valerie Rousselle (winemaker) "The Rosés are made from red grapes: Grenache, Cinsault. They undergo slow fermentation at low temperature which allows the juice to fully impregnate the aromas contained in the grape pulp, without taking on too much color. This is what gives Château Ste Béatrice rosés their inimitable 'fruity' characteristics."

Côtes de Provence AOC is the largest appellation of the Provence wine region in south-eastern France. It covers roughly 20,000 hectares of vineyards, which produce the vast majority of Provence's rosé wine. This appellation includes most of the viticulture in the Var department.

Rare Rose Blend is used to identify rosé wines made from unusual or rarely seen combinations of grape varieties. There is great variation within the world of rosé, from the fresh, strawberry-tinged wines of Provence to the much-maligned category of White Zinfandel. The grape varieties used are most commonly red, and the pale color is achieved by limiting the contact the grape has with its skins. Usually, rosé wines are made from the grape varieties that are common to where they are made – for example, Provence rosé wines are usually made from a combination of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, while rosé wines from New Zealand are commonly made from Pinot Noir.

The "Provence Rosé Elegance Mixed Pack" showcases a refined selection of Rosé wines from the prestigious Provence region.
