Rob Dolan True Colours Pinot Noir 2017 ~ Yarra Valley, Australia
Rob Dolan – Winemaker: “Vintage 2015 in the Yarra Valley proved to be one of the strongest in the past 25 years. Spring was mild, allowing excellent fruit set and quality and vintage was cool and dry with perfect ripening and crop levels 10-20% above the average. The remarkable varietal flavours with balanced natural acidity were evident across all vineyard sites and will see the 2015 vintage as a benchmark year in the Yarra”.
There are no critic ratings for this vintage as yet, but previous vintages scored well:
James Halliday 93/100 (2013 vintage)
The Wine Front 90/100 (2013 vintage)
The Wine Front 90/100 (2012 vintage)
Jeremy Pringle 90/100 (2012 vintage)
Rob Dolan has been a Yarra Valley winemaker for over 20 years and is recognised as one of the great characters of the wine industry. Rob has an outstanding winemaking record and has played a pivotal role in the evolution of the Yarra Valley. His first experience in the Yarra Valley was as senior winemaker at Yarra Ridge winery, one of the success stories of the 90’s being the benchmark Pinot Noir of their time. Rob went on to launch two more successful Yarra Valley brands – Sticks and Punt Road (“Sticks” being Rob’s nickname as a premiership ruck man with Port Adelaide Football Club but don’t hold that against him!).
