This is Great……and Here’s Why!

Six well-rated, great value 'The Riebke' shiraz from Teusner, one of the top wineries of Australia's famous Barossa wine-growing region.

92/100 Natalie Maclean (2017 vintage)
90/100 Decanter (2017 vintage)

Decanter "Perfumed, dark yet sweet cherries.....with a savoury backbone and plenty of muscular energy behind it."

Natalie Maclean "a blockbuster Barossa Shiraz produced by the Riebke brothers in the Ebenezer district of the Barossa Valley. The grapes grow on old, low yielding vines and the family has made wine for six generations. Kym Teusner is winemaker. Look for dark, ripe fruits, savoury spice on this full-bodied big red. This wine offers minty blackberry and toasty oak on the nose with a good grip on the palate. Barossa is Australia's heartland for Shiraz. This one offers great complexity and a long finish."

Lisa Johnston "Winemaker, Kim Teusner, is all about capturing the boldness of the Barossa while targeting vibrancy and elegance. To do this, he and viticulturalist Mick Page source their grapes from old, named vineyards around the Barossa Valley. This shiraz is produced from grapes grown by the Riebke family from their old, low yield vines in the Ebenezer the northern sub-region of the Barossa known for its old vines producing high quality, structural shirazs.

There is freshness to be found here, along with ripe raspberry, black plums, liquorice, black pepper and brown spice. Succulent tannins fill out the body but keep the full bodied, palate well shaped. It is a big hearted wine with some solid, creamy oak in support of that generous fruit .."

Jeremy Oliver  "A smooth, polished early-drinking shiraz of regional charm and freshness. Vivacious aromas of cassis raspberries and blueberries are backed by a hint of dusty oak and lifted by a whiff of cracked pepper. Its long, brightly lit palate of vibrant berry fruit and chocolate/vanilla oak is gently supported by fine tannin, finishing with soft acids and lingering nuances of blackberry and mocha." (2014)

The Riebke family grow outstanding quality fruit on old, low yielding Barossa Valley vines…something they’ve been doing for six generations. For their faith in what we do and their assistance in the birth and growth of Teusner Wines, we’ll be forever thankful.

The Winemaker "The Riebke tradition continues…rich, abundant flavour and serious drinkability whilst also being easy on the pocket. The wine is jam packed with Barossa Shiraz This is a plush, vibrant wine of immense generosity and incredible value."

Teusnér's "The Riebke" Shiraz has been praised by both the wine press and wine drinkers in recent years for consistently over-delivering on quality at an unbeatable price. The wine's name is a tip of the hat to the Riebke family, who produce some of the best grapes in the Ebenezer district. Teusner take a lot of fruit from the old Riebke vineyards in north Barossa around Ebenezer, Kalimna and Moppa.

The Barossa Valley is an extremely important wine-producing region within the Barossa zone of South Australia, particularly associated with powerful red wines from the red wine grape variety Shiraz. A prestigious and internationally renowned region, it is not only home to some of the oldest vineyards and wineries in Australia but produces some of its most recognizable and sought-after brands. The region lies in the (very flat) 'Valley' created by the North Para river, which connects the main towns of Nuriootpa, Tanunda and Lyndoch.
