Sam Kim, WineOrbit "The wine is gorgeously expressed and elegantly lifted on the nose showing blackcurrant, dark plum, cigar and toasted almond characters. It is superbly weighted and concentrated on the palate, delivering excellent depth and intensity, backed by fine texture and firm, chalky tannins. Sturdy and lingering."
Campbell Mattinson "This is such a sure-footed red. It’s alive with blackcurrant, boysenberry, mint, and dark chocolate flavour and it has a firm neatness to its finish. It’s perfectly well-ripened and immaculate in all respects.”
Nick Butler, The Real Review “...A wine that wrestles with itself, which makes it compelling and challenging...Opaquely purple colour. Cedary oak driving aromas here - fruits of the forest lurking with intent. Just ripe and then, just not.”
Winestate Magazine "Glenlofty’s vineyards have been carefully nurtured since 1995 in the cool-climate foothills of Victoria’s Pyrenees. Formerly blended into premium wines produced by Penfolds, Seppelts, Rosemount, and Brown Bros, Glenlofty’s remarkable fruit has been bottled under its own Glenlofty Wines label only since 2013. Early industry applause has been rapid, as demonstrated by its awards."
The vineyards of Glenlofty lie at 340 metres above sea level in the heart of the Victorian Pyrenees and total of 110 hectares. Glenlofty grows a diverse range of low yielding grapes, including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Nebbiolo.
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most famous red wine grape varieties on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra, and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity, and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices, and cedarwood.
