Rich dark chocolate, blackberry and liquorice flavours flood the medium to full bodied palate with underlying earthy vanillin oak and spice. Fleshy mouthfeel with velvet like tannins that show seamless integration and a savoury medium to long aftertaste." (2015 vintage)

Reserved, medium weight wine of red-black berry fruit spectrum, dashes of pepper, faint ‘mineral notes’ with a suppleness and softness that speaks of easy appeal. A hint of ironstone. The wine is full-bodied and quite powerful, with emphatic tannins and lots of grunt. A typical Pyrenees shiraz, the aftertaste long and resonating with warmth from alcohol. The award winning Australian winery Glenlofty has vineyards located 340 metres above sea level in the heart of one of Australia's most famous cool climate wine growing regions, the Victorian Pyrenees. Here the climate, ancient granitic soil types and varying slopes mirror those of France’s northern Rhône region. Until 2010 Glenlofty sent their cool-climate premium fruit for blending into high-end wines under Seppelts and Penfolds labels. In 2010 the 140 ha vineyards were acquired by the pioneering Richmond-Smith family, well-known in Australian agriculture since 1839. The first wines released under the Glenlofty brand appeared in 2013, and were an immediate success, winning gold medals across the world.

The Pyrenees mountain range in Australia shares its name with the ruggedly beautiful area that divides France and Spain - sweeping vistas, a temperate climate and cold climate wine growing are similarities that go way beyond the name. The Pyrenees foothills and ranges create a remarkable diversity of microclimates that provide a wealth of variety for winemakers. The region is a quintessential Australian wine region, with vineyards appearing sporadically between the ever present eucalyptus trees. Pyrenees wines produced from Cabernet Sauvignon can possess a sumptuously rich mid palate, with flavours running from eucalypt mint through to black currant as well as the earthy characters that develop during maturation. White and sparkling wines also contribute to the reputation of the Pyrenees region especially in the cooler south.

Shiraz is the name given to the dark-skinned Syrah grape when grown in Australia and selected pockets of the New World. Though genetically identical, the stylistic differences between Shiraz and Syrah are usually pronounced. Shiraz is so important to Australian viticulture that it is the most planted grape variety in the majority of Australian vineyards and has become virtually synonymous with the country's wine regions, and in particular the Barossa Valley.
