Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion "Sourced from its home in Australia, the King Valley, the grape is at its lemon sherbety best here with bruised apple and pear. The palate is softer in mouthfeel than many a prosecco out there, which will make it more versatile when it comes to matching with food. A good all-rounder."

Nick Butler, The Real Review "The bead takes a while to settle here. Pale yellow colour and full of energy. High-toned citrus aromatics of graepfruit and lemongrass, green apples too. Apples turn to red on the palate, with a healthy dosage adding palate-weight and accessible charm. Very well put together for early enjoyment."

Huon Hooke, The Real Review "Pale yellow-green hue; there are nutty aromas that dominate the nose, a hint of sulfide among them, while the palate is very light and soft, round and mild in acidity, some subtle sweetness peeping through. A suggestion of oak barrels, perhaps. There is a savoury element in here that adds interest. The finish is clean and dry and it has life and freshness without high acidity. Good drinking."

Decanter World Wine Awards "Floral, bright and lifted with perfumed passionfruit, while the palate luscious with deep, intense pear."

Winemaker "spritzy yet soft palate of light green apple and citrus mousse, refreshing with a crisp acid finish, with a lifted bouquet of green apples, grapefruit with hints of pear and spring flowers."

The original Tar & Roses team of famed Don Lewis and Narelle King began their winemaking journey in Priorat, Spain, immersing themselves within the classic Mediterranean wine regions and varietals. This sparked an interest in how these varietals could be grown and made back home in their native regions of Central Victoria, Australia. Don, now passed was one of Australia's legendary winemakers earning the highest honour of winemaking in Australia, the prestigious Jimmy Watson award.

James Halliday "Tar & Roses produces wines inspired by the classic Mediterranean varietals and was named after the signature characteristics of Nebbiolo. The name also ties back to the winemaking team behind the venture, the legendary Don Lewis and his winemaking partner Narelle King. Narelle is carrying on the Tar & Roses tradition after Don's passing in 2017"

Tar & Roses style of wines reflects the multi-region of Spain, Italy and Australia, as well as traditional winemaking alongside the new. All Tar & Roses wines are made using fruit grown in Heathcote, Strathbogie Ranges, Alpine Valley, King Valley and Priorat, Spain.

The King Valley is a picturesque wine region located in Victoria, Australia. Known for its stunning landscapes and diverse viticulture, it's situated in the northeastern part of the state, approximately 3-4 hours' drive from Melbourne.

Sparkling wine is arguably the most technical wine in the world. This is because it undergoes not just one fermentation (to make the alcohol) but a second fermentation to make bubbles! There are many different types of sparkling wine; including; Champagne, Prosecco, Cava, Crémant and Sekt. Only sparkling wines made in the region of Champagne in France can be called Champagne.
