This is Great……and Here’s Why!

700ml

90/100 Whisky Advocate
86/100 Whisky Base
84/100 Whisky Notes
84/100 The Whiskyphiles

An excellent 10 year old bourbon from the Widow Jane range. This expression is distilled in Kentucky and brought down to bottling strength in New York with water from the Widow Jane mine in Rosendale. Every bottle is drawn from a single barrel, so alongside its core flavour profile, each one will have unique elements coming through.

David Fleming - Whisky Advocate "Floral on the nose, with notes of orange blossom, as well as cinnamon, caramel, coffee cake, and cola. The palate is smooth and balanced, featuring pound cake, chocolate frosting, pepper, Almond Joy, and lemon iced tea. The finish has excellent length, and reprises the tropical notes. Water brings out vanilla custard and cinnamon. Light, complex, and balanced, with great integration of flavors; perfect for the warmer months."

Ruben - Whisky Notes "A rich and reasonably complex bourbon"

Barry Bradford - The Whiskyphiles "A smooth easy-drinking bourbon with hits of fresh apples and tannic oak wood, some spice and brown sugar give this one real depth. A great single cask expression."

Nose - Buttered rye bread, cigar box, butterscotch and mince pie filling.

Palate - Earthy vanilla pod, salted caramel, dried cherry, sandalwood.

Finish - An enjoyably oiliness lingers, balanced by brown sugar.

Named after the widow of a limestone mine owner in Rosendale, Widow Jane Distillery uses the same limestone-filtered waters to distil its artisan whiskeys and bourbons in the heart of Red Hook, Brooklyn, as it contains an unusually high mineral content. The warehousing, ageing, barreling, blending and bottling is all done in-house, using a pot still and unusual serial continuous distillation columns designed by founder and owner Daniel Preston, a former aerospace engineer. Widow Jane uses non-GMO ingredients and corn varietals such as ‘Baby Jane’ that are unique to the distillery. While distilling its own whiskies, the team has also released bourbons sourced from Kentucky, brought down to bottling strength with water from the Widow Jane mine.
